Micropigmentation what is it ?
Corrective permanent makeup, also known as corrective dermography, medical tattooing or medical aesthetical micropigmentation, allows you to correct some asymmetrical aspects of your face. It also enables us to hide a too apparent body scar or to redesign a mammary aerola (nipple) after a reconstructive surgery, a breast lift surgery or a breast reduction. The same technique is also used to hide a hair loss problem (alopecia and loss of hair) or vitiligo (disappearance of the skin pigmentation).
Corrective dermography may sometimes be performed as a “final touch” after a surgical operation or a cosmetic or plastic surgery. The treatments are executed after a thorough evaluation of your medical condition and the desired results.
Corrective dermography is the same technique that is used for the permanent makeup of eyebrows, eyes and lips.
Camouflaging a scar is possible thanks to permanent makeup.
Description of the technique
By injecting colored non-permanent pigments under the skin, just like for a tattoo, we can redesign the contours of your features, or correct specific defects that you consider as non-aesthetic. The average duration of a medical micropigmentation procedure is of an average of 2 to 5 years, and will be influenced by specific factors, physiological as environmental, and notably the exposure to sun.
Pigmentation of mammary areolas (nipples)
Following a cosmetic or reconstructive surgery (after a breast cancer), it happens very often that the appearance of the nipple has changed. Our technique consists in re-designing or correcting the nipple and its areola, by means of special pigments that imitate the natural original color.
It is also possible to round off a deformed nipple, or to simply add color to an areola that is naturally weakly pigmented. The whole procedure remains very comfortable since topical (surface) anaesthetics are applied on the skin before the beginning of the procedure.
Camouflage of scars and burns scars
Medical micropigmentation also allows for the hiding of scars, by attenuating the color variances between the treated area and the surrounding skin. This technique is also frequently used to correct the cleft lip (harelip surgery scar), the scars resulting from a breast cosmetic surgery, or any other apparent scars.
Pigmentation of the areas affected by non-evolutive vitiligo
The camouflage of vitiligo is a micropigmentation technique that allows our technicians to color white sections of skin with pigments that will be the closest possible to the surrounding skin tone. The result gives a uniform appearance to the whole section of skin affected by vitiligo.
Camouflage of alopecia, baldness and loss of hair
Medical aesthetical micropigmentation is, in some cases, the ideal solution to correct or recreate the look of hair in specific areas, in the case of alopecia, of baldness or of hair loss. This procedure is carried out with the greatest respect for your physiognomy. Micropigmentation is then your treatment of choice for an optimal and natural aesthetical appearance.
Contraindications
If you are taking any anticoagulant medication, you must first consult your treating physician, before starting any micropigmentation procedure.
Should you wish to make a scar disappear, notably after a surgery, it is important that the scar has not transformed into a keloid (puffy and blistered mass of skin) and that the scar occurred at least one year ago. Before you undergo a medical-aesthetical micropigmentation treatment, your specialist from the Institut Brabant will carefully assess your needs and your health condition, and will check if there is no contraindications. This consultation is free of charge and will allow you to address all your concerns. This type of treatment is carried out by Nathalie Brabant herself. She is a registered nurse and has been a medical micropigmentation and skin corrective surgery specialist for many years.
After the appropriate asepsis of the area to be treated, the pigments are injected into the dermis, at a depth of 1,5 to 2 mm with the help of very fine and sterile single-use needle. This technique is painless, with recourse to a surface anaesthetics applied on the treated area.
Generally speaking, a medical tattoo lasts an average of 2 to 5 years. This duration is influenced, among others, by some specific physiological and environmental factors like frequent exposures to sun, your immune system and certain topical products applied on the skin. You should then expect to need a touch-up in 2 to 5 years, according to the areas treated. Your technician will provide you with the best advice to maximize the duration of your corrective pigmentation procedure.
