When using a Plasma IQ pen, the electric arc causes “sublimation” of the superficial cells of the epidermis (changing the cells from a solid to a gaseous state). First, a health assessment is conducted to determine if you are a good candidate for this technique. A nurse will assess the areas to work on, to maximize the results of the treatment. The skin is then thoroughly cleansed (asepsis) and a topical anesthetic is applied to ensure your comfort during the procedure.

The microinjuries are quite superficial, spaced one to two millimetres apart. Treated areas may have an inflammatory reaction: redness, local edema (swelling) and mild discomfort that can easily be soothed with a topical ointment. Small carbon crusts will form on the skin after 24 hours and will be present for a period of two to seven days. They will dry and fall off on their own once the skin has regenerated.
